With extensive experience in Primary, Secondary, and Special Education across diverse regions including Liverpool, Lancashire, Manchester, York, Teesside, and Huddersfield, I have dedicated my career to accelerating student progress and driving systemic improvements in education. My approach is rooted in creating innovative, adaptable curricular systems, such as reading pathways and unique writing progression documents, which have consistently exceeded educational benchmarks and responded to the evolving needs of today’s learners.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to raising standards across various educational settings. From transforming underperforming primary schools to attaining ‘good’ or better ratings, I have focused on providing targeted support that empowers educators and students to achieve excellence. As a Deputy Head, Head of School, and Teaching and Learning Lead for a large educational trust, I have been instrumental in delivering high-quality Continuous Professional Development (CPD) through workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching. This has not only enhanced teaching techniques but also significantly advanced educational practices within these institutions.
One of my proudest achievements is the pioneering reading pathway I developed, which was commended by Ofsted in 2022 for its holistic approach to literacy. This system has served as a model for improving literacy outcomes across a range of educational environments. My commitment to fostering a culture of excellence extends to other areas of the curriculum, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded, high-quality education.
In recognition of my contributions to teacher mentorship, I was awarded the ‘Inspirational Mentor’ award in 2019, sponsored by Teach First. This award highlights my dedication to coaching and supporting teachers in training, helping them refine their practice and confidently lead their classrooms. I am passionate about cultivating a culture that prioritises oracy, reading, and presentation skills, which I believe are key drivers of student success.
My experience has equipped me with deep insights into the challenges and opportunities facing schools today, allowing me to adopt a collaborative, inclusive leadership style. I am committed to fostering environments where staff feel supported and students are challenged to reach their full potential.
In the early stages of my career, I developed a deep expertise in Early Years Education, a critical foundation for children’s lifelong learning and development. My work in this area involved implementing child-centered approaches that support both academic growth and emotional development. I designed and led comprehensive Early Years programs that focused on play-based learning, integrating the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to ensure that young learners were nurtured in environments rich with language development, sensory exploration, and social interaction.
One of my key achievements in this area was the development of early literacy and numeracy initiatives that laid the groundwork for future academic success. I introduced strategies that encouraged children to explore reading and writing in ways that were engaging and developmentally appropriate, ensuring that literacy became a natural and enjoyable part of their learning journey. I also worked closely with parents and carers, offering parent workshops and providing resources to support learning at home, recognising the importance of family engagement in early childhood education.
Additionally, my work in Early Years involved creating inclusive environments that catered to diverse learners, including those with special educational needs (SEN). I collaborated with specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, was supported to achieve their full potential. My commitment to social-emotional learning during these formative years fostered resilience, independence, and a love for learning in the children I worked with.
In summary, I am driven by a mission to revolutionise education through innovative systems and high standards. My contributions have had a tangible, lasting impact on students, educators, and the broader educational community, and I remain committed to achieving the very best for all students.
